There is continued mounting evidence, that adults who engage in playful activities (at work and outsides) have greater well being (Proyer, R, 2013). The DCAD Happiness Committee formed in 2o18, is a committee formed of DCAD staff members who meet termly to discuss, organise and plan staff  and family social events, running roughly one event each term and one in the summer. To date the committee has organised:

  • Summer Afternoon Teas
  • Christmas Discos
  • Halloween Parties
  • DCAD Birthday Parties
  • Volunteering and Game Playing Events
  • Charity Bake Sales
  • Friday Socials

Upcoming events in 2020 include a Silent Disco, Charity Bake Sale, Bike Ride and Movie Night.

Alongside this, the committee runs the DCAD Thank you email program, where colleagues can nominate each other for acts of kindness and support in the work plan. Nominated colleagues receive a You’re Brilliant Award and once a term a nominator and a nominee selected at random receive an Amazon voucher.
